Conference Introduction
Asian VCSEL Day is an international flagship academic conference dedicated to Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology. It has been successfully held for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025, bringing together scientists, engineers, and industry experts from Asia and around the world to discuss the latest research progress, innovative applications, and future challenges of VCSEL technology.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of VCSEL's invention, the Fourth Asian VCSEL Day (Asian VCSEL Day 2026) will be held from October 11th to 13th, 2026, in Suzhou, China, hosted by Suzhou Everbright Photonics Co., Ltd., Nanjing University, and the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Laser and Sensing Technology, co-organized by the Bimberg Chinese-German Center for Green Photonics of the Academy of Sciences at CIOMP, the Institute of Science Tokyo , and the Light Publishing Group.
The conference venue is located in the beautiful Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, on the shore of Taihu Lake. Suzhou is one of China's most unique cities, a UNESCO World Heritage site of classical gardens and canals, yet simultaneously a global powerhouse in applied technology and advanced manufacturing. Professor Kenichi Iga, the inventor of VCSEL, along with Professor Dieter Bimberg from Germany, Professor Fumio Koyama from Japan, Professor Connie Chang-Hasnain from China, as well as other well-recognized experts from Singapore, Russia, Australia and domestic academic and industrial experts will attend this conference.
During the conference, plenty of high-quality invited reports, academic exchanges, and technical exhibitions will be held, covering cutting-edge application fields such as communications, LiDAR, and biomedicine. Asian VCSEL Day will provide an opportunity to have insight into cutting-edge industry trends, explore possibilities for technological innovation, and inspire new research ideas, thereby further promoting the sustained innovation and development of VCSEL technology in the coming Al era. A special issue of “Light: Science and Applications” will be devoted to this subject.
